Proton is not tied to stable dxvk releases and Experimental gets regular updates with dxvk development work.
Regular Wine users can also use development builds from the CI if they are interested.
That said a new release is planned yes but there isn't an exact date yet. Some work with the new shader compiler is not yet finished and it will also need extensive testing once done to minimize possible regressions.
Not any time soon, it's just not ready yet™. If absolutely necessary we might do a 2.7.2 bug fix release at some point, but given some issues with the 2.7 branch I'd rather just focus on the next feature release, and there's still a bunch of things that need to be in there that aren't finished yet.
Nothing extracted yet.
The latest version of DXVK is 2.7.1, which was released on 30 August 2025. But that is several months ago, in the meanwhile new Linux kernels, newer Wine/Proton releases, newer graphics drivers and newer games have been released.
When can we expect a new version of DXVK, because when DXVK lags behind, compatibility issues will arise.
