I've only played it using OpenGL, which should definitely be your pick on Linux.
Battlezone Combat Commander, which uses DX11 but the game doesn't recognize dxgi and such unless you rename the dll as dinput8.dll
This one also works just fine on Wine/Linux, I've had no issues with it picking up dxvk. Your mileage on Windows may vary, but that's a known limitation.
