Unreal Engine 5 titles (Borderlands 4 and Deadzone: Rogue) crash during shader compilation when using the VKD3D_CONFIG=descriptor_heap launch option.

Removing VKD3D_CONFIG=descriptor_heap completely resolves the crash, and the games run fine.

Maybe it's related to #3098?

Borderlands 4 startup crash still occurring for me when using descriptor heaps (proton-experimental-bleeding-edge). NVIDIA driver 610.43.03 / RTX 4080.

Crash is resolved by removing VKD3D_CONFIG=descriptor_heap. n.b. It doesn't help to apply retain_descriptor_heaps

Heap is known to be broken on 610, the recent driver update hasn't addressed that.

Ah, crud. There is no known-good NV driver for descriptor heaps then? 595.44.11 has some extra descriptor-heap-specific fixes but IIRC it didn't help this title when I tried it.
