Please describe your issue as accurately as possible without being overly verbose (no wall of AI/LLM output). Include screenshots or videos if relevant:

When using a Proton with 3.0.1 VKD3D the game exbibits extreme stutter not found on 2.14.1, once the stutter (which is very much behaving like shader comp) gets cached into the vkd3d-proton.cache on 3.0.1 its fine but before that happens every area in the game is just awful to play

I've been trying to solve the issue last few days and on a whim I tried a older version of Proton (9) after noticing I no longer had this issue (even after clearing out both vkd3d-proton.cache and the games own cache in prefix folder) I dropped the 2.14.1 into a newer proton and again no issues, soon as I replaced it with 3.0 or 3.0.1 issue returned

Are you sure you didn't just have a poulated driver shader cache (maybe via fossilize/steam shader pre-caching) when playing with vkd3d-proton 2.14.1? I don't think this is something likely to have changed or regressed. Or something that could be fixed for that matter. If the game compiles shader pipelines just before drawing it's going to stutter.

No I made sure to delete anything shader cache related between them

I reinstalled game fresh and got some logs from Proton 10, I'll be honest I F'ed up, I thought 10 was the last release on 2.4.1 when instead its 3.0, so now I'm also out of activations (thank you denuvo) so I'll have to put up Proton 9 logs tomorrow or next day

Edit: sorry accidentally hit close button

Well the new compiler introduced in 3.0 is substantially slower than the old one, and this game certainly has its share of stupidly huge shaders that are being compiled on demand.

It's also a lot less broken and fixes some real rendering issues in this game.
