Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Reamstered
  • Steam AppID of the game: 1328660

System Information

  • GPU: Radeon 780M (iGPU)
  • Video driver version: Mesa 26.2.4-1
  • Kernel version: 7.2.8-arch1-2
  • Link to full system information report as Gist: System Information System Report Steam Runtime Diagnostics
  • Proton version: 11.0-2, Proton Experimental, Proton Hotfix all affected. Previous Proton versions can't install the EA App, so I haven't tested them.

I confirm:

  • [X] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [X] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

If I have a DualSense attached via Bluetooth or USB, the game sometimes either freezes, or crashes. This doesn't happen otherwise. This doesn't happen on my desktop running Arch with a very similar package list and configuration. If needed, I can attach reports from that as well.

Reproduction

Connect a DualSense through USB or Bluetooth. With a fresh prefix and one of the listed Proton versions above, launch the game in Steam. Install the EA App without any changes. Wait an eternity. Press any button when the game tells you to. The game at this point will either freeze or close instantly. Alternatively, connect the controller only after getting to the main menu, then the game will instantly crash to desktop.

Oddly enough, a Wii U Pro Controller over Bluetooth doesn't trigger this crash at all.

I also attempted to use a DualShock V1 and V2 each, and Steam Input only recognizes the home button, even in Steam Big Picture mode itself. Hot Pursuit Remastered says that the controller doesn't have the buttons mapped.

Hello @Rekt3y, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/4355#issuecomment-6089981668.

Sorry, I forgot to scroll all the way down on that issue
