DS4 works, character isn't being rendered properly, performance is good and alttab isn't working properly.
Also shows black at the beginning of starting a new game that's skippable by pressing a button, I'm not sure if it's a cutscene or something.

Proton 3.7-5

Bbasxto 2018-12-12 github

In general:

  • low FPS and laggy mouse in windowed mode, but fine in full screen
  • xbox 360 gamepad works fine
  • runs fine with 200FPS in full screen, but the rate drops a bit depending on the environment

3.16-4:

  • wind sound is so loud, you can’t understand the the rest
  • sound volume can’t be adjusted ingame or turned off
    3.16-5 Beta:
  • music is just broken extremely loud white noise
  • sound effects are most of the time extremely loud white noise
  • voice mostly works and rarely has extremely loud white noise
  • volume can be adjusted ingame or turned off

Edit: Opening cut scene is black for a very long time, but that’s how it is supposed to be. Character is rendered properly, I don’t know if this was ever an issue since the style looks very broken. But the look is like it’s on windows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v77_v_gdu-w

Hello @basxto, with Proton 3.16-5 beta, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options, have a short play session, and drag and drop the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log into the comment box.

I also toggled through all render modes at the end, I never checked if they all look how they are supposed to

The problem comes from the game using 24-bit PCM data... yeah, really.

Guess I get to look up how to do fast 24-bit to float conversion!

Fflibitijibibo 2018-12-13 github

This should fix the noise:

https://github.com/FNA-XNA/FAudio/commit/fd3fa90ccf1f34f01c62fc29e5c0f84a3770ad7d

Still have to actually convert it...

Fflibitijibibo 2018-12-13 github

Okay, and here's conversion: https://github.com/FNA-XNA/FAudio/commit/f49fc671ba51ff15802dc86d9718361ffabe1845

This should be fixed by an FAudio update, either self-built or in the next Proton release.

Fflibitijibibo 2018-12-21 github

3.16-6 includes the latest FAudio, that should cover the audio problems for this game.

It’s nearly working now. The music produces some slight sizzling, which is nothing compared to the issues it had before.
When I volume the game down, I can minimize the sizzling to a point, where I don’t perceive it any longer. I suspect it gets drowned in the environmental sounds.

Master Volume 75%
SFX Volume 70%
Music Volume 50%
Voice-over Volume 100%

Thank you for your work on FNA and FAudio

Strange, I can't make the fuzz happen locally - just to be sure, is xaudio2_7 set to builtin in your prefix? On my own PC I have to set PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 to get clean output, but that's only when using native rather than builtin (which uses SDL2's native Pulse driver).

Bbasxto 2018-12-22 github

~I don’t know how to find that out.~ And it’s worth noting, that I do not notice any sizzling when I’m in the main menu.
I’m using steam’s runtime and proton distributed with steam.

Edit: In winecfg xaudio2_7 is not listed under DLL overwrites. The game won’t launch with xaudio2_7 set to native.
