To play the game you first place this xlive.dll into the game's directory. It disables Games for Windows - LIVE.

Launch the game once so it creates a registry.(it will crash)
Open the registry file called user.reg(For Steam Deck users its under home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/10430​/pfx/)
Do a search for "DX10Enabled" and change it from a 1 to a 0
The game should now launch. Note only campaign will work since Games for Windows - LIVE is off.

Additional note: I was using GE-Proton7-43 but I believe this method should work with other protons with no issue.
