@kisak-valve: Game is now working for both of us. Would you be fine with converting this issue into a whitelist request?

Hello @Utopanic, please copy your system information from steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report. Also, what version of Proton did you test with?

I tried it on every release of proton until 3.16.3.
By the way, thanks for the amazing works you guys are putting in proton ^^

Here is my system information

Hello @Cthuflu, please run ulimit -Hn and verify that it is a high value and not 4096.

CCthuflu 2018-11-05 · hidden on GitHub github

@kisak-valve I ran the command you requested

$ ulimit -Hn
4096
Kkisak-valve maintainer 2018-11-05 · hidden on GitHub github

You'll want to raise that limit to about a million. There's some info on how to do that at https://github.com/zfigura/wine/blob/esync/README.esync.

CCthuflu 2018-11-06 · hidden on GitHub github

Raising that limit does work well enough to still be able to use esync.

I was able to run the game as normal in proton.

Game Works as intended.

The game now doesn't boot on my computer anymore
EDIT: I also tried PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%, but it didn't help

There's a known regression where Proton 3.16 Beta causes Downwell and other games to crash on RadeonSI. Using 3.7 should still work.

?ghost 2018-11-11 github

Ok, any idea on how to fix the "after 15 seconds crash" bug?
