I'm using X11 as my default display server, as well as Proton Experimental (experimental-bleeding-edge-8.0-55322-20230909-pbb6d2f-w718dba-dc113b7-v88e4f3) and I've noticed after alt-tabbing in games my frame-rate dips severely when I move my mouse around. (can half my frame-rate in most cases)
In particular it does seem to happen when I select other X11 windows, the game still accepts my input in the background.
While my mouse polling rate is above 500hz this issue appears to be pretty prevalent but I don't see as much of an impact when my mouse is set to a 500hz polling rate.
A good example of a game where this is visible is Star Citizen (granted this is not a game that's available on Steam but I seen the greatest impact here)
Howdy

I think this wine bug may be related: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49667
This Proton issue also seems related: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/561 (or https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/147)

Here's my system info if it helps in any way: https://gist.github.com/ProjectSynchro/f0d4e4f102ca29c71a683ea49dd4df7e
Let me know if I can provide any additional information.
