Symptoms

The program doesn't launch.

This is a non-steam game, hence no app ID provided, but it was working fine until some time about 2-3 weeks ago. I added UbisoftConnect.exe as a non-steam game so that I'd be able to run ubisoft games through proton, but suddenly it stopped working - nothing happens at all when I click "play". I don't know what changed to make it stop working.

I can still launch Ubisoft Connect by running it directly through wine with my WINEPREFIX set to the one created by Steam. But then the games don't run well.

When I searched the issue tracker I did find #8259 but it's possibly unrelated since it's almost six months old, much older than whatever issue I'm getting; that person is also running actual steam library games, not trying to run Ubisoft Connect directly like I am.

Reproduction

I followed this step-by-step to get it added to my library: https://pimylifeup.com/steam-deck-ubisoft-connect/

Then just click "play". Nothing happens.

Hello @Adamcake, https://gist.github.com/Adamcake/ca1a3f5f6359770878b744a0d18a1bd7#file-gistfile1-txt-L70, https://gist.github.com/Adamcake/ca1a3f5f6359770878b744a0d18a1bd7#file-gistfile1-txt-L181-L194, and https://gist.github.com/Adamcake/ca1a3f5f6359770878b744a0d18a1bd7#file-gistfile1-txt-L294-L307 are the key details here. You've most likely changed out your video card since you last tinkered with Proton and your video driver isn't new enough to support Vulkan on your current hardware. Alternatively you've moved from a random git build of mesa to a point release to the same effect.

Update your video driver to mesa 25.0 or newer.
