Symptoms

The game suffers from heavy graphical glitches and visual artifacts during gameplay. Previously, it would also freeze completely, requiring a full system reboot. Those freezes are now resolved, but the graphic corruption persists, making the game visually unplayable. I've tested nearly every known workaround found in ProtonDB, GitHub, Reddit, and various forums — none have resolved the issue reliably.

Observed Issues

Graphical artifacts such as broken lines, flashing shadows, distorted textures, flickering, or visual tearing.

Graphical corruption persists regardless of in-game settings or Proton version.

Troubleshooting Already Tried

Switching between Wayland and X11 sessions.

Forcing 60 Hz refresh rate and different resolutions.

Steam Launch Options tested:
RADV_DEBUG=llvm
RADV_DEBUG=nodcc
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.5
DXVK_ASYNC=1
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1

Disabling Steam Overlay and Steam Input.

Disabling in-game HDR and vsync.

Using a custom DXVK build, placed manually in game directory.

Testing through Lutris with Wine-GE and manual overrides.

Using WineD3D to force OpenGL backend.

Installing and testing mesa-amber and mesa-git.

Clean system installs tested — no overclocking, no other game is affected.

Important Notes

This issue does not affect any other game, even other Unreal Engine or DX11 titles.

It appears to be specific to this GPU model and game engine combination.

Closing Statement

I believe this may be a Proton or DXVK compatibility bug with RDNA2/RX 6800 and Unreal Engine-based games like Dead by Daylight.
