still looking into the root cause, but adding --xwayland-count 2 to gamescope's arguments seems to work around the crashing issue.
i didn't really experience crashing (only about twice when i was tweaking around). Only persistent issue is the artifacting

Description:
After alt-tabbing out of and back into Empire Earth Gold Edition running fullscreen, a persistent ghost cursor image remains on screen for the rest of the session. The artifact does not disappear on refocus and requires a full game restart to clear. The issue reproduces on two separate machines with different GPU vendors (NVIDIA proprietary and Intel/Mesa), ruling out a driver-specific cause. Gamescope nested mode does not resolve the issue. Also tried playing the game through heroic, same issue, i followed this guide (https://ee.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=st&fn=1&tn=38451) by the letter. nothing worked. Thanks in advance for the help.
