Latest client update finally gives me a steam icon in the tray (indicator) under gnome 2!

Seeing many (25, ~length of the steam menu in tray) of these errors when launching games.

This is an app indicator bug that Canonical is looking at.

I also have a system tray icon under KDE now, but it has no image, just a white box with ? in it.

Not that I've heard. The warnings are mostly harmless, so I'm not sure they're treating it as a priority.

I'm also seeing these messages on Slackware 14.1 x86_64...

I wasn't always seeing them too, they seemed to have appeared, disappeared, then reappeared, so not sure if an update has caused them to generate again... Hmm

Unfortunately, upstream stagnated around Ubuntu 12.10's development cycle. No fix for this is expected as long as libappindicator is used for Steam's tray icon.

Still happens on my system too.

It happened when I tried to close a Proton-based game. It very rarely happens with regular Linux native games.
