Issue
When launching EA Games (I only tried Star Wars Battlefront II and NFS Rivals) they "crash" not long after the initial game start, even before a game windows appears. I played both games on my system before flawlessly.

When I press the green PLAY button, it turns blue as it should, but shortly after, without any window showing up, it turns green again and the start gets cancelled.

I suspect that this issue has only been there since the new Steam client update, but I couldn't find a way to return to the older Steam client version.

I currently use Proton 9, but tried all available Proton versions in Steam without any luck.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start a EA Game that requires the EA PLAY launcher to launch

any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello @42Rickirick, we're tracking issues with games run with Proton in the Proton issue tracker. Also, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3971#issuecomment-3805547648.
