Hello @felixactually, integration with system notifications is already being tracked at #46, and #3046 was being used to track the overlap in KDE, but the reporting user closed it and I'm not finding the older issue hinted at in that issue report, so let's track the notification overlap here.
Oh, my apologies, I did search and saw the first issue you linked (#46) but I didn't think it was entirely relevant to what I'm suggesting due to the feature request for Plasma integration (Edit: On the desktop instead of in the in-game overlay). Also, I've been informed by a friend that all distros use the same API for notifications, so instead of just Plasma it could integrate with every one.
Is there any news on this?
I would also like to know if there is any news on this. I was trying to fix this today but only found out that I can set the Notifications.PanelPosition to be in a corner instead of position by x y. Better integration in a whole would be better of course that a x y position.
Another KDE user wondering if there will be any update on this, if Valve is looking into improving kwin they should also look for a fix for this.
Also interested in this. Native notifications would be really nice.
Seems like the notification overlapping the panel only happens on multi-screen setups, if you have a single screen then they're positioned correctly.
checking on this again, if the steam deck is going to be used to hook up to an external display in desktop mode this bug being fixed would be fantastic.
Still experiencing this - Is there any additional info that we can provide to help with this? (or a workaround present?)
hello yes i am here to necropost about how i am still experiencing this in the year 2026
thats the post okay see ya in 3 years where someone whos experiencing it for the first time is gonna report it here
Nothing extracted yet.
Considering that Steam still shows notifications that block the bottom Plasma panel, if it exists, (and some fullscreen programs, like when a YouTube video is maximised) it'd be nice for A. that to be fixed and B. for Steam to integrate with Plasma, with an option in the settings window, so that no autodetection has to occur and possibly break. Not only could it then show notifications using Plasma's built-in notifications system, it could also use "request attention" to flash the taskbar entry whenever the taskbar entry should be flashed as occurs on Windows, and the green progress bar within the taskbar entry to indicate game download progress.
Thank you for reading my suggestion. I hope it is considered.
