steam updates are working so I have the latest.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

After the upgrade to Fedora 35, Steam doesn't start. It used to work fine. When I start it from the CLI, I see the following:

steam
steam.sh[398179]: Running Steam on fedora 35 64-bit
steam.sh[398179]: STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
setup.sh[398253]: Steam runtime environment up-to-date!
steam.sh[398179]: Steam client's requirements are satisfied

I am not sure how to further troubleshoot this. No log seems to get updated with an error message. It seems that the initial scripts just exists....

Hello @raffaelespazzoli, what video card / driver version are you using? Can you check if any 32 bit OpenGL application like glxinfo32 -B from https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/rpminfo?rpmID=27037303 works?

If steam client is configured to start at login it will start but generate defunct process and the UI does not open.

However, if you kill the two processes (steam.sh and [steam] <defunct>) with kill -9 and start directly from the console it starts with bunch of messages.

Yes, it worked for me the same.
so there is something wrong with steam automatically starting at boot in
fedora 35. I looked for an option to disable the auto start but it does not
seem to be there.

There should be a setting at Steam -> Settings -> Interface -> Run Steam when my computer starts checkbox.

Is X configured to run on the iGPU or the eGPU? This sounds similar to #8179.
