Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): 1682634349
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Ubuntu Lunar
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Update news popup shows game news at startup (or from View > Update News).
The arrow buttons inside it are unresponsive, it is impossible to show the next game. "Click for details" is unresponsive as well. The close buttons are the top and bottom are responsive.

If it matters: I'm using gnome-shell (mutter) with wayland. Steam is installed through the flathub flatpak. Before yesterday's big update, the popup was broken in a different way, the window started maximized, filling the screen unnecessarily.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start new steam beta
  2. View > Update news
  3. Can't switch pages, can't "click for details"

This is also true if you want to add a friend, you can not write in the page, can't interact at all with the page. Normal Steam BETA client on Manjaro here.

I can also reproduce this issue when I open the "Update News" popup from the "View" menu after startup. But also on Steam start the window only display "Error - There are no news items to show at this time." (which isn't true since if I open it later there are, but I can't navigate them). This is on Arch Linux with KDE and X11.

I think this might be related to #9443 and #9014
