Hello @nPHYN1T3, thanks for clarifying. The UI element behind the dropdown menu getting selected is another example of a general issue seen with some desktop environments, primarily xmonad and openbox. That issue is being tracked at #9273. Feel free to add a note to that issue report.
You might be able to avoid that issue by holding the control key while selecting the dropdown option.
I am not using either of those environments and this does not affect all of Steam, ONLY the bits I mentioned...but you seem destined to just close everything I open.

If Steam is online it floods my UI with garbage game updates which are nearly impossible to get rid of. There is a tiny drop down arrow in the top right of each "update" notice for remove and show less but most times clicking it just opens the update. Some times you can click on it and hover the Remove option only for clicking on that to also just open the update. Why can't we disable this garbage all together. I don't want to show less I want to show NONE much less fight with this garbage small UI that never works.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
THIS IS NOT A DUPLICATE OF https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/8061
While I agree with the sentiment of 8061 (and removing this garbage feature would negate the need to fix what I'm reporting) this is about the fact Steam has already doubled down on this terrible feature however the UI for it is BROKEN!
Not only do you have to clear every stupid item individually you have to deal with the fact clicking "REMOVE THIS ITEM" just opens the damn thing and it's a random chance it will FINALLY remove it when you click on the UI for removing it.
