Hello again @nPHYN1T3, please do not repeatedly open duplicate issue reports (Referring to #9696 #9697 and this issue report as a group). It is not a good way to persuade someone else to you line of thinking.
In #9696, the emphasis you put on the issue report is that the "What's New" shelf is an irritation you don't want to deal with, which is entirely a duplicate of #8061.
In #9697, you regurgitated your previous issue report, but added marginally more detail to focus on the mouse click you make on the dropdown menu causing the UI element directly below the menu to get selected. This is a duplicate of #9273 and has been seen with a variety of desktop environments and areas of the Steam client. Some desktop environments seem to more easily be affected by that issue.
At this point, I'm under the impression that you're more interested in being combative than to give constructive feedback, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and we'll let this sit.
"Constructive feedback" is suggesting functionality, this is a bug report. I'm frustrated with the fact Steam is constantly broken and problematic & you keep closing tickets under the guise they are other issues that are "feature requests" not bug reports.
The issue I am reporting is not #9273 as that pertains to all UI & dialogs, I do not have that issue. The only UI that behaves as I am reporting is the "Whats New" UI for dismissing items. The closest issue I have to #9273 is #9300.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen. Please link any large code pastes as a Github Gist
If Steam is online it floods my UI with garbage game updates which are nearly impossible to get rid of. There is a tiny drop down arrow in the top right of each "update" notice for remove and show less but most times clicking it just opens the update. Some times you can click on it and hover the Remove option only for clicking on that to also just open the update. Why can't we disable this garbage all together. I don't want to show less I want to show NONE much less fight with this garbage small UI that never works.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
THIS IS NOT A DUPLICATE OF https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/8061
While I agree with the sentiment of 8061 (and removing this garbage feature would negate the need to fix what I'm reporting) this is about the fact Steam has already doubled down on this terrible feature however the UI for it is BROKEN!
Not only do you have to clear every stupid item individually you have to deal with the fact clicking "REMOVE THIS ITEM" just opens the damn thing and it's a random chance it will FINALLY remove it when you click on the UI for removing it.
This is NOT https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/9273 OR https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/9300 - When launching on 0.1 or 0.2 right clicks all work, they just end in disaster. They do not have the click through behavior from the other bug reports, only the What's New UI exhibits that behavior and it has done so since before this nightmare of a UI update.
Waits for this to be closed because someone else has the same color socks as me.
