Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

When launching Steam, the login window will have a blinking cursor in the name field implying text can directly be entered as has been the case in the past, but currently no keyboard input appears to be registered at all until the mouse is moved over the window and a few pixels inwards. Alt-tabbing and min- and maximising doesn't change this either, if you're careful you can even grab the title bar, move the window around, and still not be able to input your credentials until you move the mouse fully into the window.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start Steam
  2. See login dialog
  3. Attempt to input credentials

Yes, I can reproduce that issue as well and it appears the same as the login dialog one. My apologies, I only searched for "login". This however made me curious whether other webview-like windows are affected, and while it's a bit harder to tell because there aren't always immediately active text boxes, I'd say that's the case.

  • Browser: Go to a web-based tab in the Steam interface, right-click a link and open in a new tab, move mouse quickly from the area the browser window appears in – This could be intended, but repeatedly pressing Tab to cycle between UI parts doesn't show effect until I move the mouse over the tab and URL area, at which point repeated Tab presses will highlight the URL or activate the site content so that pressing space will scroll the page.
  • Games > Activate a product on Steam: At first I thought this one worked, but on second and subsequent tries, this has the exact same no text input till mouse over issue as login and chat.
  • Friends window, not signed in: Click Friends & Chat, quickly move mouse away, you can sign in by pressing Tab and then Space, but only after moving the mouse over the window.
  • Many other windows accessed from the menus (Settings, About, System Info, Runtime Diagnostics, Add Non-Steam Game, Players, Game Servers, Screenshots, Update News): On my system, when these windows are active, repeatedly pressing/keeping pressed Tab will make the blue bar at the very top of the window flicker. This only happens once I've moved the mouse over them as described in this issue, leading me to believe it's the same thing happening. This does notably not appear to happen to the Restore Backup window, which is also the only one of these that doesn't get its own separate window (as shown on the task bar).

Edit: Forgot to mention, but I think the in-game overlay is not affected by this, at least I can immediately type text when I open the notes feature.

Indeed, I tried yesterday and I could reply to chat inside the overlay without the need to hover the mouse cursor above the text area.

Nothing extracted yet.
