Bug 1 Description: Users are unable to delete custom controller layouts in "my layouts".
Bug 2 Description: Selecting any custom controller layout in "my layouts" and pressing A to enter the preview screen shows incorrect button mappings that do not match the actual settings.

Steps to reproduce Bug 1:

  • Use any recommended layout or template and modify the button mappings as desired.
  • After making the modifications, click on the gear icon and choose "Export as New Personal Save".
  • Go to the "my layouts" section in the controller layout selection page and locate the saved layout.
  • Select the saved layout and click the "..." button to delete it.
  • This action will clear the entire controller selection page, including the recommended layouts, my layouts, and templates sections, which is also a bug.
  • Restarting the Steam Deck or the Steam client will bring back all the layouts, including the one that was deleted, indicating that the deletion was not successful.

Steps to reproduce Bug 2:

  • Similar to the above steps, create a new layout.
  • Re-enter the controller layout selection page in the "my layouts" section and select the previously saved layout. Press A to enter the preview.
  • At this point, it can be observed that the preview shows the default button mappings instead of the custom settings made by the user.
  • Additionally, I noticed that the controller layout selection page highlights the currently in-use layout with a blue vertical bar. However, after modifying and exporting a layout, the newly saved layout in the "my layouts" section does not have this blue highlight, indicating that SteamOS does not recognize it as the currently in-use layout.

Attempted solutions that have failed:

  • Deleting the layout and restarting the Steam Deck or the Steam client: Failed.
  • Enabling the developer option in the game's settings and selecting "Clear All Controller Configurations": Failed.
  • Deleting files in the directory mentioned online as the storage location for controller configurations. I tried deleting a file named "remotecache.vdf" and other files with names matching my custom controller layout (e.g., "MyLayout.vdf"): Failed. (These files are redownloaded upon restarting the Steam Deck, and any modifications made to the file's contents are overwritten upon restart).

I welcome discussions and suggestions regarding potential solutions that others may have tried. Hopefully, we can find temporary workarounds for this issue, and I also hope that Valve addresses and fixes this problem in the next update.
