Retest Compatibility Report
Problem remains game won't start.
Bumping the issue here to report it still won't start on current Proton 5.0.6, as also reported on 570050@ProtonDB
Re-test: Game launches and is playable, but an issue remains with flickering videos. The intro cutscene videos flicker like between complete black and a video frame.
(In case this is relevant, whenever the game plays the videos Steams FPS overlay reports 90fps. The videos are only in reality 30fps and my screen is set to 60Hz. So perhaps this discrepancy is causing the flicker  ).
My protondb report for this game is incorrect and it can be safely deleted (along with this comment, if you want). Apologies for my mistake.
Hello @Zeioth, that website is not affiliated with Valve. Nothing can be done with the comment you just made here.
Retested on deck with Experimental, mostly noticed fmv flickering during the ufo logo fmv, the op fmv (When you see the 25th anniversary logo on screen), and when viewing the credits.
That aside though, even with one freeze trying to view the credits that doesn't seem to be consistently replicatable, the game is pretty playable on deck. Played through the first stage without crashing or major frame dips
I re-tested the game on new setup and problem persists, the intro videos flicker. But other than that the game works without issues.
Game seems to have regressed between proton 8.0-5 and 9.0 as the game now gets stuck on a white screen after the fmv ends. Also I can only get the flickering fmvs with the new media source now, i get either a black screen or a white screen when the fmv tries to play.
Edit: Actually disregard this, tried it out today and both issues are gone, game doesnt softlock and the flickering fmvs are back
GPU: AMD Radeon 6800
Video driver: Mesa 25.3.1
Kernel version: 6.17.8
Proton version: 10.0-3
Video flickering still occurs during cinematics, game crashes immediately to desktop if cinematics are skipped but if they are allowed to fully play the game allows you to start and play.
Could it be how it handles the video termination?
