Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (+DLC: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Upgrade)
  • Steam AppID of the game: 489830 (+DLC: 1746860)

System Information

  • GPU: Steam Deck OLED (AMD Custom APU 0932)
  • Video driver version: 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 24.3.4 (git-8d0948917e)
  • Kernel version: 6.11.11-valve26-1-neptune-611-gb3afa9aa9ae7
  • Link to full system information report as Gist:
  • Proton version: 10.0.4

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

While the game runs fine on the Steam Deck OLED in handheld mode, it is not playable (i.e. enjoyable) in desktop mode:

  1. It only launches as a small window in desktop mode
  2. Mouse and keyboard input don't work (Steam Deck's built-in controller works both in Handheld and Desktop Mode)

Reproduction

  1. Install The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Upgrade on Steam Deck OLED
  2. Switch to Desktop Mode
  3. Launch the game with Proton 10.0.4 (in Desktop Mode!)
  4. Go through the main menu with keyboard to start the game
  5. While in game, notice that keyboard and mouse do not work (but the built-in Steam Deck controller does)

Additional Notes

I already tried Proton Hotfix, Experimental, 10.0-4, 9.0-4, 8.0-5 to no avail.

While I don't know anything about WINE's internals, these parts in the debug log stand out to me:

fixme:xinput:pdo_pnp code 0xc, not implemented!
fixme:wineusb:add_usb_device Interface 1 has 2 alternate settings; using the first one.
fixme:wineusb:add_usb_device Interface 1 has 15 alternate settings; using the first one.
fixme:wineusb:add_usb_device Interface 2 has 5 alternate settings; using the first one.
fixme:wineusb:add_usb_device Interface 4 has 5 alternate settings; using the first one.
fixme:wineusb:add_usb_device Interface 0 has 2 alternate settings; using the first one.
fixme:wineusb:query_id Unhandled ID query type 0x5.

Full debug log attached.

Hello @sindastra, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/4#issuecomment-3961913047.

Hello @kisak-valve, thank you for the information. Just to be sure: This is about the anniversary edition, does this still count as duplicate in that case?

Feedback regarding a game's DLC is generally discussed along with the base game it's paired.
