Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I am having trouble installing games on my fresh Arch Linux install.
Smaller sized games are no problem as I can install and run them without any problem.
However when downloading bigger games the client crashes at one point and I cannot download my game.
Using gdb to try and find an issue was not helpful as it is the webhelper that crashes.
The crashes only happen during downloads.
I do not think this is a network issue as this has been happening for about 3 days now and my Steam Deck has no issues with downloads.
Another side note is network transfer from my deck to my desktop does not work either.
Things I have tried to fix/debug this issue are:
using steam runtime
using steam native runtime
using steam flatpak
changing my file system from btrfs to xfs to ext4 which I am currently on
using steam beta
using steam families beta
trying different download regions
disabling http2
using dnsmasq
running memtest86
reinstalling steam and my system many times
resetting steam many times
trying to install games to other drives or partitions

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Open steam
  2. Download a large game(30 GB+, I do not have a large sample size so this might be subjective)
  3. Wait for the download to finish
  4. Get "Corrupt update files" error

Having the same issue on Fedora 39 here.

I sometimes get in a loop of 'validating game files' that never finishes either. Also, moving the window to another monitor usually just gives a black page within frame.. sometimes moving this to another monitor helps.

I've been having a similarly sounding issue the last couple of days (don't know if I had webhelper crashes but I definitely kept getting "corrupt update files").
In my case the problem turned out to be a faulty RAM and games have been installing just fine after replacing it, so I'd suggest trying a memory test (e.g. creating a bootable memtest86+ USB drive)

memtest86 did not show any issues for me. I also tried using a different desktop environment and x11 but those didn't change anything either. Changing my distro from Arch to OpenSUSE Tumbleweed fixed it for me however.

This ended up being my issue as well (see this)

as for the webhelper crashes, this worked for me.
