In current beta version of the Steam Client for Linux,
Most of my keyboard interaction in typing (for example, the search field)
has lost many important keystrokes.
Example: using erase (backspace), arrow keys, Delete etc.

Downgrading to current Stable does not have this problem.
This probably has something with the upgrade of the web engine?
(Just updated, after patch got this problem)

Also, general «.» (period) doesn't work. NumPad's one works.

And frequently pages like Reply Notifications doesn't stretch to fit
the window.

Ubuntu x86 14.10. Gonna also test against 15.04 soon.

PPlaque-fcc 2015-04-24 github

Oh, also arrow keys are broken.

Ssizeofbool 2015-04-24 github

I second to this bug. Backspace and Delete keys doesn't work if I use them in Community Discussions\Forums inside Steam Client on Linux. This happened after latest Beta update.

Hope it's not what you intended to implement.

On the bright side, #3513 seems to be fixed. I suspect these issues are interconnected somehow, like, they decreased the number of key responses by one and as such Enter is now responds one time while other non-character keys respond zero times. Just speculating.

PPlaque-fcc 2015-04-25 github

Surprisingly, #3513 doesn't get reproduced any more.
Home/End
PgDn/PgUp
./Del/BS
←^↓→

All they don't work.

This may be related to the issue I've found of keys being passed to the desktop [bug #1740](https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Dota-2/issues/1740). For instance, pressing alt or the windows key will minimize both Dota 2 and CS:GO now. Previously those keys could be bound and used in game, with alt being essential in Dota.

This issue does not occur in BPM or chat.

I can confirm the issue.

Yeah, same thing.

But… is this thing so rare that almost nobody noticed such behaviour?
Where's the word from devs? Are we doomed?

The word from devs is the "reviewed" tag. They know it's an issue and will resolve it when they can.

PPlaque-fcc 2015-05-06 github

Oh, I'm from email, so I didn't know that. Thanks!

MMrSchism 2015-05-07 github

New Info: Period functions as backspace delete. I found this when I was attempting to make a forum post.

@Plaque-fcc no worries.

The issue I reported in [bug #1740](https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Dota-2/issues/1740) is still happening after the update. So I suspect it wasn't related as I original thought.

MMrSchism 2015-05-08 github

Confirmed as fixed in latest beta on my end. @kazie can you confirm this fixes the issue for you?

PPlaque-fcc 2015-05-08 github

I can confirm it on my side. Thanks!

SSector14 2015-05-11 github

The page up/down home/end and arrow keys still don't work on the library page (and anywhere else with a scroll bar such as friends list). Running Debian Jessie and the latest steam beta. Those keys work fine in the non-beta version.

MMrSchism 2015-05-13 github

On my Mint 17.1 system running latest Steam beta, I cannot replicate those results, @Sector14.

I have arrow key functionality in the games list pane in my library and on the store page. I don't have arrow key functionality in chat or in the individual game pane in my library. I also do not have arrow key functionality in the messenger log pane (not the entry pane). This is the same for Windows, so it seems to be an issue with Steam itself across the board.

SSector14 2015-05-13 github

Ignore my prior post, I've updated laptop to the beta and re-tested and the library view does scroll with the arrow keys.

Looks like the beta also fixes the quirk where the library list doesn't regain focus when you switch back to the game info window from the friends list.

MMrSchism 2015-05-15 github

Since @kazie hasn't responded, but it seems to be resolved for everyone else, I'm closing this as resolved.
