@Simmonz posted on 2018-09-21T02:22:13:
I tried running The Technomancer through Proton and it crashes at launch. The Steam AppID of the game is 338390. I added PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options and received the following log:
I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game and I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

OS: Solus
GPU: RX 580 8GB
Driver/LLVM version: Mesa 18.1.6

Take a look here: #656
Just as an update, seems to be some cleaner output near the crash on a newer Proton.

@zzhiyi Is there a way to fix it?
@zzhiyi Is there a way to fix it?

A possible fix for the game:

Tested with Proton 4.2-1: still not working.

Same issue today with Proton 5.0-9 as well as 4.11-13, 4.2-9, 3.16-9, 3.7-8.
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, RX 580, AMD A8-5500
On Proton Experimental (09/29/2022), the game plays the two intro videos but then hangs in a loading screen indefinitely. This is a known issue on systems with more than 4 cores: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Technomancer#Infinite_loading_screen_upon_the_game_start_up
When attempting to limit the number of cores to less than 4, the game starts crashing when playing the intro videos. Even replacing the intro videos with empty/blank videos as suggested in the PCGamingWiki article is not enough to get by the issue. Log when executing with command PROTON_LOG=1 taskset -c 0 %command%:

Hello @Dar13, it might be interesting to try setting the game's launch options to WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=4:0,1,2,3 %command% (#5927) with newer Proton as an alternative to taskset.
@kisak-valve That did the trick! I'm now able to get into the main menu with the WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=4:0,1,2,3. If there's a reference of the available WINE_* environment variables, I would be interested in looking through it. I searched for ways to restrict the CPU topology and nothing popped up in Google searches.

Game installs fine and starts then instantly crashes. When started I can see a black window with a custom mouse cursor, then the game crashes. I tried running using the
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11option, but it crashed the same way.Using Proton 3.7-3
