In this particular case, it's proton 9.0.3 (but have tried other versions, including experimental). The game is Skyrim SE, with Mod Organizer 2. Specifically there are 2 utilities I attempt to run through MO2 in support of the game.
Both of these applications are WPF apps. When launched, a frame of appropriate size usually appears, but solid black, which closes itself within a second or two. Sometimes I don't see a window at all, the process just terminates.
I figured out today that if I open these on monitor #1 (of 2) they launch and work normally.
Currently running Linux Mint 22.1 with the 6.8.0-63-generic kernel and the 570.133.07-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 570 open NVIDIA driver. This behavior occurred with prior kernels and NVIDIA drivers. I have two monitors, and I primarily use the larger #2. Both are on the same GPU, but #1 is HDMI and #2 is DisplayPort, if that matters.
So while I have a workaround, this seems to suggest an underlying issue that might be important?
